Application and enrolment procedure
Enrolment is the enrolment in a specific degree program within the designated enrolment period (time window in which you can enrol). The enrolment process differs depending on whether the chosen degree program has restricted or open admissions. You can therefore find out about the procedure for allocating study places for your chosen degree programme on the respective degree programme pages.
Application procedure
The decisive question for prospective applicants is: "Is the degree programme admission-free or admission-restricted?" – You can find an overview on the sites of the degree programmes at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. You can find information on the status of the current main or advanced application procedure in MyCampus.
Limited admission
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available, a selection procedure must decide on the allocation. Interested students apply for admission-restricted degree programmes via the student portal MyCampus. If you receive a letter of admission, you must then enrol.
Those interested in these degree programmes Civil Engineering, Education and Childhood Education, Infrastructure Systems, Cultural Work and Social Work please note the information on the central allocation of study places.
Application requirements
School entrance qualification for higher education
As a rule, a school-based higher education entrance qualification enables students to study:
- General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur)
- Subject-related higher education entrance qualification
- Fachhochschulreife (If you only have a certificate of the school-based part of the Fachhochschulreife, this is not sufficient. You can only obtain the full Fachhochschulreife together with the practical, work-related part. The school board in whose area of validity the school-based part was completed is responsible for awarding the Fachhochschulreife).
- Subject-related entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences
- Vocationally qualifying university degree
Without school entrance qualification for higher education
Entitled to study without a school-leaving certificate? That works! According to the Brandenburg University Act, under certain conditions it is possible to take up a course of study without a school-based higher education entrance qualification.
University access with foreign certificates
Applicants who have obtained their school-leaving certificate abroad (foreign university entrance qualification) must have their university entrance qualification recognised for the state of Brandenburg by uni-assist e.V. or the Cottbus State Education Authority before applying for the 1st and/or higher subject semester.
Numerus Clausus & Admission Limits
The Numerus Clausus (NC) means that there is a limited number of study places. These places are allocated according to the quotas specified in the selection procedures. Which values are sufficient to obtain a place changes depending on the number of places available and the number of applications.
An admission limit expresses the grade (usually the average grade of the Abitur or the grade of the selection procedure/aptitude test) or the number of waiting semesters (periods without enrolment at a German higher education institution since the acquisition of the higher education entrance qualification) of the last applicant admitted.
