Prof. Dr. Julia Maria Stru? & Prof. Dr. Ben Heuwing

To mark their appointments, Prof. Dr. Julia Maria Stru?, Professor of Applied Data Science, and Prof. Dr. Ben Heuwing, part-time Professor of Usability and User Experience, will introduce themselves to the university public as part of their inaugural lectures.

Prof. Dr. Julia Maria Stru?: Shaping digitalisation: Data and user skills in the information sciences
Objective or subjective? Opinion or fact? True or false? – Challenges and solutions for the (partially) automated detection of fake news
Fake news jeopardises democratic processes and the speed of dissemination has increased significantly in the course of digital change. The lecture looks at the tasks, challenges and solutions for supporting the detection of fake news through automated processes and discusses how the effectiveness of systems can be made comparable.

Prof. Dr. Ben Heuwing: UX and requirements management: Functionality vs. user experience?
Both the functionality offered and the quality of user interaction determine the success of digital applications and services. Current approaches to user-centred requirements elicitation and product development, such as human-centred design or design thinking, focus on these aspects in different ways. The presentation will show how this can influence the collaboration between those responsible for usability, user experience and requirements management as well as the role that users play in the processes.
