Open Access Brandenburg
The Networking and Competence Centre supports Brandenburg's higher education institutions and universities in the Open Access transformation in line with the Open Access Strategy of the State of Brandenburg.
Since the 1st of April 2021, a central service has been developed and established as part of the project "Vernetzungs- und Kompetenzstelle Open Access Brandenburg" (VuK), which supports the higher education institutions and universities in Brandenburg in the implementation of the open access transformation in accordance with the state's open access strategy and other related measures.
Designed as an Open Access state initiative, analogous to developments in other federal states, the VuK is focussing its work on the aforementioned strategy and the needs of the universities in Brandenburg. Its services will initially be developed as a prototype and then transferred to regular operation.
The services include
- strategy consulting for stakeholders, especially at the management and steering level of the universities,
- information dissemination, knowledge transfer and skills development on open access, in particular as a hub for nationwide services and subject areas with links to open access
- development, coordination and support of the publication fund for Open Access monographs in the state of Brandenburg,
- development and implementation of a procedure including methodology and workflows for state-related open access monitoring,
- active and supportive networking of stakeholders from the state of Brandenburg with stakeholders in other federal states and at federal level,
- evaluation of the services and the open access strategy as well as continuous further development of the services.
In addition, there is a work package for the establishment and development of operational workflows as well as the project management of the networking and competence centre.
