Laboratory for DTP, Digital Printing and Colour Management
The laboratory for DTP, digital printing and colour management is used as part of the design department's teaching. Lectures inform about the basics and special information of colour management, the handling of colours and the corresponding technology in the laboratory.
Utilisation
Targeted colour management allows the data to be checked digitally on the screen using soft proofs, print characteristics from a wide range of printing presses to be simulated and colour-accurate printouts to be created using the special output devices. This means that the desired result can be simulated at the selected print shop as early as the pre-press stage.
The courses provide information on the basics and special information on colour management, the handling of colours and the corresponding technology in the laboratory. Knowledge of the most important printing processes is also imparted. Basic knowledge is tested in a personal interview to ensure that the handling of colour in digital processing sequences (in particular with the equipment in the laboratory) is mastered – without sufficient knowledge, no key rights will be granted. The access authorisation is only valid for students who have taken part in the introductory course at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam in LW/128.
Each authorised user must take appropriate care to ensure that the laboratory and the work equipment available for its intended use remain a complete and functional working environment for all users.

The technology for the laboratory consists of high-performance computers, servers, calibratable screens, special software and the corresponding output devices in the form of printers.
